Matti comes from a small town called Waren (Müritz) in Mecklenburg Vorpommern. To pursue his boxing passion, he moved to Berlin. He invited us to accompany him through his daily routine of physical training and gave us the opportunity to understand his boxing philosophy. At the age of 9 Matti discovered boxing for himself. His parents encouraged this career, yet gave him the freedom to test all other directions in life as well. However, his new passion became chess boxing. The game includes 3 minutes of boxing (one round), 1 minute break and then 9 minutes of chess. There are 5 total boxing rounds, 6 rounds of Chess and 1 minute break in between. Matti believes in two important points of boxing. One is courage and the other is control.
